We Have to Stand Up

It is of utmost importance that we know how to defend our beliefs as Christians. One of God’s core values is the sanctity of life. If we cannot stand up, and courageously — and kindly —debate the issue of abortion, what can we stand for?

Show Love for Mother and Baby

As Christians, we care about both the Mother and the child — not one or the other. Remember to show care for both the mother and her child, and have mercy, as Christ has had mercy on each of us.

The Lord Creates Life

Every life, from the moment of conception, is precious to our Lord. We need to recognize that it is He who is the author of life, and it is He who “Knits us together”. With the proper mindset, we can understand how important this issue really is.

Speak the Truth in Love

It is certainly easy to get angry, and frustrated at the loss of life — rightfully so! However, we are commanded to “Speak the truth in love”. On one hand, we have to speak the truth, we cannot stay silent. On the other hand, the way we present the truth matters. We must speak kindly, not filled with spite or hate.

Take a look at the following verses:

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.

Ephesians 4:13

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Colossians 4:6

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

1 Peter 3:15

I encourage you to read the context of each verse, especially 1 Peter 3:13-17. We see that to reach others, our speech must be gracious, loving, and humble.
