The 12 Gifts of Christmas

12 days featuring 12 gifts we receive becauseof Jesus.

Gift #12: The GIFT of Priesthood!

“You shall be named the priests of the Lord.” (Isaiah 61:6)

One amazing Eternal Promise is that every believer in Jesus Christ is a priest of God.

Not just one or two men in the Church is a priest, but the Bible says EVERY living believer is a priest!

From the pen of the apostle Peter, he writes:

“You are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:5, 9-10)

Notice that Peter reinforces that you are the people of God and a holy priesthood. If he were talking about the Jews only, Peter would not be saying “who were once not a people.” He is referring to gentiles (but really anyone in Christ).

So, you don’t need to find someone else to pray for you or to intercede for you for you to offer up your own prayers to God as His priest with Jesus as the High Priest!

Furthermore, Old Testament priests served God and His people as we believers – New Testament priests –
– are instructed to serve God and one another in love.

And being a priest of God as a believer does not require you to go to the Seminary. You have been GIFTED this amazing honor by no other than the Gift Himself… Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, the Savior of the World!

So, thank Jesus for allowing you this free access to Him and His Father!

With much love in Christ,

Jeff
